About Mule ESB

Mule is the leading open source enterprise service bus (ESB) and integration platform. It has been downloaded over 1.5 million times, and is used by over 2,500 organizations in mission-critical production applications.

The Mule project was founded in 2003 by Ross Mason, CTO of MuleSoft - the company behind Mule. Frustrated by integration "donkey work," Ross set out to create a new platform that emphasized ease of development, flexibility, and re-use of components. He created the Mule ESB to bring a modern approach, one of assembly, rather than repetitive coding, to developers worldwide.

Mule ESB - Community vs. Enterprise

There are two editions of Mule ESB: Community and Enterprise. Mule ESB Community is best for evaluation or pre-production use, while Mule ESB Enterprise is ideal for production deployments where there may be requirements for performance, HA, resiliency, or technical support. Learn more about the differences here.
