Description

The big silver menu bar is not very practical, especially now that we have different wiki spaces and version-specific docs. It should ideally be context-sensitive (i.e., change depending on where you are in the docs), a colapsable tree-view, or something like that.

At the very least, we need to update its contents to reflect the new docs organization. Most links are broken at this point!

Issue Links

relates to

Task - A task that needs to be done. MULE-3272 Add a context-sensitive tree view for navigating the docs

  • Minor - Minor loss of function, or other problem where easy workaround is present.
  • Open - The issue is open and ready for the assignee to start work on it.

Task - A task that needs to be done. MULE-3271 Update menu bar to reflect the new docs organization

  • Critical - Crashes, loss of data, severe memory leak.
  • Closed - The issue is considered finished, the resolution is correct. Issues which are not closed can be reopened.

Assuming we just point everything at the Mule 2.0 docs, I would propose the following menu layout at this point:

Download - link to MULE:Download
About the Project
drop-down: (children of MULE:About the Project)
Getting Started
drop-down: (children of MULE2INTRO)
Users Guide
drop-down: (children of MULE2USER)
Cookbook - link to MULE2CB
Developer Resources - link to MULECDEV
(Japan flag) - link to JPNDOC

I went ahead and updated this because I hadn't gotten any feedback yet and the current menu bar was simply broken.

For reference, here's how to edit the menu bar (thanks Andrew Ca.!):

content of menu bar ... edit -> administration -> configure theme ..
click on menu ... shows that its a macro ...

Unknown macro: {muleprojectmenu}

edit -> administration -> site administration -> user macro from the
side ... gets u here

There is a very nice tree view available for Confluence:
http://www.adaptavist.com/display/Builder/pagetree2+macro

However, we will need to upgrade to Adaptavist Theme Builder 3.

The tree view is context-sensitive by default (i.e., it displays the tree for the current space)

Split this into two separate issues: MULE-3271 and MULE-3272
