I wouldn't go so far as Ross's comment. If people have existing committments in Axis 2, this can add value. However, I think this may have to be a community lead project. If you are interested in working on this, please let us know.

Well, the fact that Axis, Axis2 and CXF don't interoperate is part of the reason for having an ESB in the first place, but if Mule doesn't support the single most common WebService protocol that we use, then it's not much use to us at all. Of the dozens of WebServices that we have, only one will work with Mule because most of the rest of them are Axis2. So when it comes time to renew our contract...

It's very disappointing to see a Mule 3 announcement come out without Axis2 support.

Axis 2 is still needed for RPC encoded web services as they are not currently supported by CXF.
